I did it last year, and to prove it wasn’t a fluke I’m going to do it again this year.
That’s right, November is National Novel Writing Month and once again I’m stepping up to the plate. What’s different this time around? For starters, I intend to actually have the key plot elements figured out in advance.
I’ll pause while you recover from the shock.
Producing 50,000 words in 30 days isn’t easy, but it’s also not impossible. The tricky parts will be coming up with a good (enough) story, managing it during the month of OryCon, and improving my ability to convey a sense of environment. That’s right, I’m viewing this year’s effort as part of a learning process instead of a simple challenge to pile words upon more words. Go, me!
Wish me luck, friends. I suspect I’m going to need it.
(By the way, does anyone else think that this year’s Participant Icon
is vastly inferior to last year’s?
Ah well.)

I like that as well, Kora, but there’s something to be said for knowing where you’re going when you start out, which I didn’t last year and the story suffered badly… for that matter, so did my characters. *sigh* They were left floundering around about 2/3 of the way through, and the ending just plain sucks.
As for insane, well, you should know full well that yes, I’m nutty as all get-out. =)
againagain! yay… NaNo all the way. however, this year i’m feeling less prepped for it. ideas, yes? PLOT? well it eludes me at this time.
but it’s still weeks away so i have time to get one, right? right?
Yeah. I’ve been thinking about what I’m going to do this year for a long time, and I still can’t think of anything good 😛 I’ll prolly fail again. Oh well.
The new logo makes me think of “South Park”, for some reason.
Oh, and good luck! I’ll be writing some Shakespeare paper instead.
Okay, so you’ll sit back and watch while I prove to be even more insane than first discovered while I do this too? Oh, and those 4 days at Orycon are gonna hurt when making up the lost writing time. But then those 4 days will be worth it *huge grin*.
And, yes, that logo sucks ass.
Are you TOTALLY INSANE?!!! And I happen to like the new logo better.
The logo isn’t bad. But it does need work.
As far as insanity goes, eh, there are far crazier ways to spend your free time. Glass pipes and burnt brain cells comes to mind. But don’t mind me.
Oh yeah, I like it when my characters take on a life of their own, and surprise me with their actions (with me taking dictation for the readers benifit) but I’m schitzo that way.
I like the old one better, but then I’m partial to anything that is non-computer looking… I get that enough where I work…
