Past, Present, Future – Round Thirty-one

Don’t ask me what inspired this one. It’s not like I’m going on a prolonged road trip or anything. I am, however, bringing you the PPF while camping… thanks to the power of post-dated entries!

PAST: What sort of car did you want when you were a kid?

PRESENT: What gets you from Point A to Point B nowadays?

FUTURE: Back in the ’50s everyone talked about how, by the ’90s, everyone would be wearing jetpacks to commute, or driving flying cars, that sort of thing. What futuristic commuting technology advance do you most desire?

You know the drill… comment so we know where to find your answers, and link back using the handy-dandy permalink http://greyduck.net/ppf so your visitors always get the most-recent rendition. Thanks for playing!

    I guess I’m first today.

PAST – I have always wanted a Delorian (spelling, I’m sure). I love the doors! That was my dream car as a child – as long as they would make me one that wasn’t a low-to-the-ground sports car (never much cared for those)

PRESENT – I cruise around in a Saturn. I *heart* fuel efficiency.

FUTURE – I always wanted teleportation. I HATE travel time, so I always wanted something where you could just magically appear at a location and it felt like an instant to you, even if when you got to your destination, it was 4 hours later.

I really wanted a car similar to “Christine”, though without the bloodthirsty similarities… Either that or, since I was a child of the 80’s, a KITT car… Sigh…

PRESENT: What gets you from Point A to Point B nowadays?

A ’92 Ford Festiva, turquoise, that has finally, after 230,000 miles on it, had to have the top of the engine rebuilt and the transmission and case replaced… It still burns oil, but it’s not that bad for the moment. I’m working on getting a new car… Someday…

FUTURE: Back in the ’50s everyone talked about how, by the ’90s, everyone would be wearing jetpacks to commute, or driving flying cars, that sort of thing. What futuristic commuting technology advance do you most desire?

“Meet George Jetson!” Hmmm… I think transporting is a good idea… No waste, no muss, no fuss. How nice to say “I would like to go to an SCA event and not have to drive 5 1/2 hours to get there, or schlepp everything up and down stairs”, and be able to simply arrive… Sigh…
