You know you’ve reached a certain critical milestone as a parent when you look your oldest child in the eye… and realize you’re looking them right in the eye, because they’re just as tall as you are.
The boy’s twelve, which means he’s not even done yet! Oh, man.
Still, he’s a good kid, so hopefully I won’t ever face the possibility of trying to punish a kid who’s bigger than I am…

*chuckle* Just wait til they get to be almost a foot taller than you and you have to look up at them…
Bite thy tongue, woman! *grin* (If the gods are kind, he’ll only be a bit less than a head taller than I am… please? Pretty please?)
And now you see why the only punishment I can inflict on the Ratboy is to take him for a ride in the car and talk at him for hours…sure, he’s only an inch taller than me, but his ability to absorb physical damage surpasses even my own.
I can sympathize with you…my 11 yr old is as tall as me now, which is why I have to inform him daily that no matter how much taller than me he gets I’ll always be the boss.
“Bite thy tongue”? Heh. My /younger/ brother is almost a foot taller than I am and I’m above average height for a female.
And believe me, trying to punish someone who’s taller than you is, erm, interesting. (And don’t get any ideas there Spud, I can tell your dad all the tricks I learned with my brother.)
Don’t worry. I wasn’t interested in learning about any such “tricks” in the first place.
I have been realiably informed that no matter how tall the Spud gets he’ll always think of me as being taller then him.
Thank heavens my 12-yr-old, who is within an inch or two of my height, assured me that even if she gets to be taller than me (which I’m sure she will), I’ll always be meaner and scarier. *snicker*
I can’t believe he’ll be a teenager in a month! And he has so much room to grow. I just hope Spud remembers to be nice to his short Aunt Christine as he gets taller.
