  • All I wanted was some bread, man.

Considering my rather upset tummy yesterday, I figured that I’d try to eat a relatively mild lunch today. My first thought was to head over and grab a bagel at Starbucks, but as I walked that direction it occurred to me that I could instead swing by Pizza Schmizza for some breadsticks.

Denied. The line at Schmizza was almost out the door. I went back to my original plan of a bagel and cup of cocoa.

Denied. The Starbucks nearest to my workplace doesn’t sell bagels, and the pastries weren’t at all what I had in mind… and probably not a wise choice all things considered. I decided to hit the deli at Albertson’s for a fresh sandwich.

Denied. After waiting several minutes for anybody at all to come see if any customers needed help and then being told that it would be eight to ten minutes before I could get a simple cold-cuts sandwich, I gave up and went in search of the bakery.

Success! Some twenty minutes after leaving the office, I returned with two fresh bagels, some cream cheese spread and a small carton of chocolate milk.

So far, so good… my body is behaving itself. Let’s hope that remains the case, shall we?

The list of available selections is somewhat arbitrary, but the results are still mildly amusing:

Keep in mind that if you decide to make your own, you’ll be dealing with German-language instructions. Your mileage may vary.

  • Life’s funny that way.

Here’s one way in which my life is terribly amusing.

I was heading over to Kyla’s place after work yesterday to watch Doctor Who and have dinner. Figuring that showing up empty-handed might lack style, I went to the grocery store and picked up beverages and a loaf of french bread.

Guess who was in the same checkout line, two people ahead of me? Guess who was also buying beverages and french bread?

That’s the funny way my life tends to go.

In other news, I have a new mattress set. Getting used to it has taken a few nights, but it’s ever-so-comfy! Maybe this will help with my ongoing sleep problems.

I spent a lot of time in bed today, however, because for some reason my innards decided to rebel overnight and all through the day. Bleah.

And that’s all the news that’s fit to print. I won’t promise more frequent updates, because I seem to keep breaking those promises…

  • Stream-Of-Happiness

(An entire week went by? Ack!)

It’s late and I should get into bed, but here’s a stream-of-consciousness barrage of the good things that filled most (or at least some) of the last ten days: BT’s “Emotional Technology”, Epic Super Munchkin Bites, The Art of the Catapult, The World Forestry Center, Scorched Earth 3D, steak, the Eden Trial, Doctor Who, Apocalyptica, pizza, A.E.I.O.U., Koyaanisqatsi, orange creme Hershey’s Kisses candy, Object Desktop, cocoa, and the company of good people.

Because dwelling on the good stuff is healthier than the alternative, usually.

  • Not to be mistaken for the other kind of children.

Lil’ directed me to Literally, A Web Log which led me to This Is Broken at which I found a “caution” sign made funnier by virtue of my being a totally sick individual.

So, remember. This is all Lil’s fault.

So. Who wants to pony up and buy a late birthday present for everyone’s favorite little grey duck?

Okay, I kid. I’ll probably buy one myself at some point in the near future. I just wanted to get the link posted here so I won’t forget that I want one, let alone where I found them.
