The latest firestorm to hit the so-called “blogosphere” is the Movable Type 3.0 licensing debacle. I have the good fortune to enjoy considerable distance from the fray: The only MT site I run is the anime site. (By the way, has anybody come up with a better name for that thing? Anyone?) Sure, it has two authors, but unless some major security fix comes down the wire that necessitates an upgrade, I can leave it right where it is. The only two other MT-based sites I’m involved with (by way of hosting) are single-author, single-blog rigs, thus falling under the “personal use” heading. And that’s even if they wanted to upgrade to 3.0, which isn’t exactly what you’d call a certainty.
Have I pointed out that the Monaural Jerk v0.5 alpha releases have been an absolute joy to work with? Heh. (Oh, I should also mention that the roomie swears by WordPress and its “five minutes from tarball to working site” slickness.)

Hah! Who was it, after looking over the features and being allowed to putter around in the anime site, that decided on MT over MJ in the first place? *grin*
Okay, seriously. For your needs, MT was the better choice. For the most part, it still IS the better choice. I love my MJ, but that doesn’t mean it’s for everybody. I set up MJ for Wendi because it was basically easy for me to do and I wanted to use her as a test case for how to add features onto the v0.4.3 install. (This is now moot, of course.) I set up MJ for Lil’ because, well, I don’t remember why I chose MJ for Lil’. Hmm. *frowning* I had a damned good reason, I’m sure of it. Stupid memory.
Here’s a new name for the anime site:

For the header graphic, you could have a pair of rubber duckies with a “blackout” across the more salient bits 🙂

I think it was just so you could do the same tweaks on mine that you’re already used to on yours & the STBX’s, and I had no preference.
I’ve been running a Movabletype system for probably 3 months now. I used to run WordPress an d bBlogger and a couple other blogging systems for testing/tinkering use. For the most part though I’m really happy with Movabletype.
Ohh I know that your not telling anyone not to use MT. I was just giving my experience with it. Sorry if it came off as a flame, it wasn’t meant to. I was just making conversation.
