I like my job, yes, but that’s not the reason I want to stay at work for the next few days. You see, Portland’s experiencing something of a one-week heatwave, and I want no part of it. I absolutely wilt in 90+ temperatures. Our house becomes a kind of sauna, or perhaps the term is ‘blast furnace.’ From mid-afternoon all the way until well past midnight, our abode is unbearable.
My office, on the other hand, is tiny but it has air conditioning. Mmmm. I love being cool and comfy. Too bad I don’t have a stockpile of food or a nice place to sleep.
Oh well. I should just suck it up and be miserable with the rest of my family. It wouldn’t be fair to them anyway, now would it?

Take the family to a movie… Great way to stay cool.
And, sadly, broke. Movies are expensive, as we know only too well. I get paid Thursday, which is about the time that the heat wave is supposed to start cooling off. Ah well. Good idea, though.

Well, okay, I have the very-cold-water fountain right outside my office, but still…!
Movies are only expensive if you don’t know of the good places to go. Mt Hood Theater on Powell in Gresham has a double feature every night at 7pm for only $3. That’s THREE BUCKS! Can’t beat that with a stick, I’m afraid. But wait… Maybe the theater isn’t air conditioned… Well shoot, there goes my brilliant plan. Ah well, it’s still a great make-out theater. Yee haw, I bet we all know where this peach is headed! ;D
