Memory Meme

I got this one from Mari and agreed to pass it on, so here goes. Please note that if I don’t know you in the slightest fashion, you probably shouldn’t bother commenting…

If you comment I’ll do the following:

1. I’ll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I’ll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I’ll name something we should do together.
4. I’ll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I’ll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I’ll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you (or, I will include an icon just for YOU in my reply).
7. I’ll ask you something that I’ve always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must might like to post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

There, Jerry Mari. Happy?

*evil grin*

Oh my. I’ll have to take these two at a go, or risk bumping up against whatever the size limit is on comments…

    Okay, Geoff:

    1. You’re a punny, punny guy. Back in the (all too brief) good old days of my family life, you’d have fit right in at a dinner at Granddad’s place.
    2. Pretty much anything Weird Al. Dude, you have the boxed set!
    3. Either a webcomic or a string of awfully cheesy parody AMVs.
    4. Pak. Chooie. Unf.
    5. Being thoroughly outclassed during a round of that timeless classic activity, making puns on the word “egg.”
    6. “Real friends help you move bodies.”
    7. If my kids’ place had cable, my daughter would watch Animal Planet, which would bring to 2 the number of people I know who do so. What aspect of working with animals would appeal to you most as a line of work?

    Whew. Mari’s turn:

    1. You make road rage fun, even with your reduced volume levels. 🙂
    2. This’ll sound weird, but Madonna’s “Material Girl,” because of an AMV I like of Ranma 1/2 footage focusing on Nabiki, who may be the only non-dysfunctional character in the entire show. See? I told you it sounded weird.
    3. We’re overdue for another round of Mai HiME, aren’t we?
    4. ‘/msg tinkrbel Remind me again why I thought a chat room would be a good idea?’
    5. As you said: Anime viewing sessions, camped out in the living room.
    6. “Here sirs, we come to famous Training Ground of Cursed Springs, Jusenkyo…”
    7. How did you manage being “den mother” to all those teenyboppers without going bonkers?

Well. That managed to be highly anime-centric, didn’t it? It seems as though I should be able to do better than that. Bah.

(Two down, at least four to go…)

You are hellaciously popular *grin* EVERYONE wants you to “do” them…

    Heh!

Yeah, that was supposed to sound dirty 🙂

    Thanks for doing mine!!

OK OK S,o, I didn’t answer the question… Here’s the answer: I have no idea 🙂 Maybe it’s because I related to them and their idea of fun… most likely it’s because I am a 16 year old trapped in a 33 year old body 🙂

I’ll do two more, then take a break for brunch. First, Kyla-dear:

    1. You add a personal, often creative touch to almost everything you do. I admire that greatly.
    2. “Fukai Mori,” of course.
    3. The level 34-43 Terra Volta respec! Freaks on a leash!
    4. Is there a penalty for early withdrawal from the Bank of Vyx?
    5. The SakuraCon meeting in Vancouver, lo the several years ago.
    6. “Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. Here at Central Headquarters, there was a band of brave soldiers, all willing to make that sacrifice in the name of peace. This is a tale of love and courage. A tale of the Flame Alchemist, Colonel Mustang, and his loyal team.”
    7. Given your druthers, what would you like to do for a living?

    Lil’s turn now:

    1. You know how to have fun in the most mundane of surroundings… like a grocery store! *grin*
    2. “Scotty Doesn’t Know,” or any given Pat Benatar song.
    3. Well, we haven’t hit Powell’s in a while… maybe that’s a bad idea though. Damned finances.
    4. Raspberry parfait.
    5. Lunch at Oaks Park.
    6. “You two are the worst twins ever.”
    7. What (or who) do you consider the biggest influence in your spiritual life?

Righto. The rest must wait for a while, as I have a meal to forage and errands to run…

I really love hands-on. I really want to do stuff that is a help to wildlife. The biggest thrill for me is when I can also contribute to the body of research. I could very happily conduct tracking surveys for the rest of my life, doing some rehab work on the side.

Whoops. I sort of lost the back half of the day with errands (depositing checks, going shopping) and watching a couple of movies at Lil’s place (“The Transporter” and “Oscar”, if you’re wondering). So, let’s finish this off, shall we?

    Hi, sis! This’ll be fun:

    1. I admire the way you struck out in a totally new (and somewhat scary) direction and made an entirely new & better life for yourself.
    2. The theme song to Fraggle Rock.
    3. Go to Granddad’s “after party.”
    4. Two siblings are better than five.
    5. Heh. I’m going to answer this two ways. My very first memory involving you is when Dad and I were sitting in the park in front of the hospital, and he was explaining to me why Mom was in there. My first clear memory of you doing something, however, can be summed up in this phrase: green mac-and-cheese!
    6. “You say that so often, I wonder what your basis for comparison is.”
    7. Who was your favorite stepdad? (Okay, I’m sure it wasn’t “you-know-who,” but I barely knew the most recent two so I think it’s a fair question.)

How sad is it that I don’t remember my baby sister as a baby, at all? Hmm.

As for “B”, I’m afraid I’m truly stuck. I just don’t know you well enough to come up with a full set of responses let alone a question, and the gods know I spent hours trying. I’m sorry.

do you know that I bought the first season of Fraggle Rock a few weeks ago? 😉
I have to answer your question in two parts. As far as we were concerned, I think I liked Mike Shomler (I don’t remember how to spell it) the best. For mom, and in a close second for me, was Mike Johnson (the last husband). I think, even with all the rice a roni and stuff, that I was happiest at Mike Shomler’s than anyone else. I have lots of semi-happy memories from that time.

Wow, you really know how to ask the hard questions…In a way, the Christian churches that my mother trotted me & my sister to every time she decided we were too “unruly” and “needed God in our lives” was a huge influence. Instead of “wait until your dad gets home,” we heard “wait until the pastor hears about this.” Obviously I feel using church as a type of punishment is unhealthy & bad parenting, and it definitely turned me off established religions. The Sunday School teachers who refused to answer my questions, or forbade me from asking more, also helped steer me toward Paganism — especially when they berated me *quite* nastily (when I was all of perhaps 10 years old) for asking why, if God was all things & all-powerful, why God couldn’t be a woman as easily as a man. So I declared myself an athiest until my mid-teens, when I found myself yearning for spiritual rituals that mattered to me personally, and I began to observe the solar holidays of solstices & equinoxes, and pay homage to the four elements of air, fire, water, & earth (I had no comprehension that these were Pagan ideas or practices, at the time). At that point, I wasn’t thinking about a God or Goddess, just what I guess you could call “nature spirituality.” I had no idea there were people who actually practiced Pagan religions in the 20th century until my early twenties, and started learning as much as I could, though I didn’t apply theory to practice, or call myself Wiccan, until I was 25.
