Well, I was indeed able to talk the boys into a round of Mille Bornes. The three of them clocked over 4500 points (toward a goal of 5000) by game’s end. Me? 3500. Then we played Carcassonne. The three of them racked up respectable scores. Me? I had seven points on the board until game’s end, at which point my partials got me up to about 40 points.
See, you definitely want to play games with me; I’m quite good at making sure other people win, and I still enjoy the game for the experience itself so while I may show some disappointment I don’t bring the whole party down because of it.
Still, it’d be nice to win on occasion…

So… no ruthless play til you win games for you then? Kinda defeats the purpose of playing a game to win. *shrug*
I should clarify, for the record: I have a blast playing these games. Our Sunday night gaming sessions are among the highlights of my weeks, ’cause I get to match wits with very clever, very cool people. I don’t mind being trounced all that much, as long as I’m doing my best and the general atmosphere remains upbeat, which is usually the case.
I’m sorry if I gave any other impression. I was trying to go for “ironic humor” and may have fallen short of the mark.
I had this on my PDA, and it was a great way to kill time, even if I had to play against the computer. 🙂
hmmm….I am so used to loosing Settlers of Catan to JOhn that I never expect to win any games…
