Thanks to fellow NaNo “ObPippin” for pointing me towards The Lord of the Peeps. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.

Getting All Fired Up
I apologize for the dearth of updates this week. Every spare productive moment has gone into my NaNo project. I have a bit of character sketching typed up and posted now, as well as a nice chunk of background data. I’ll probably be linking in some of the other Portland NaNos next, followed by the actual structure of the story postings. (I’m still undecided on “full story” versus “excerpts” posting. Comments are encouraged.)
Just a bit more than a day left before I become a full-on writing powerhouse. Hoo boy.
I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome some new Blogs of Note. Intellectual Orgy has already been mentioned but Mari can stand the encouragement. The People’s Republic of Seabrook provides a witty slice of Lone Star State life in addition to some keen sociopolitical commentary and has become a daily fave of mine. Rounding out the roster is I’ll Say She Is!, another well-written slice of life journal. The Chuck-A-Palooza antics alone are worth the visit.
Let’s put it this way: Unless you want to read my novel (or about the progress of my novel) there won’t be much of interest on this site during November. Dig into these Blogs of Note, dear readers. I wouldn’t steer you wrong.

Do you really want 50,000 words from me?
Those of you who know me well know that I’ve often agonized about doing some serious writing. I want to be an accomplished novellist, dammit.
This is probably not the way for me to achieve that goal, but it would be good for getting me into the habit of writing. I’m seriously considering doing National Novel Writing Month, the goal of which is to produce a 50,000 novel in 30 days.
What do you think? Should I? Shouldn’t I?
UPDATE: Bzzt. Time’s up. I signed up to do it. May the gods have mercy on us all. Look for related webstuff appearing here between now and Sunday. And yes, Melissa, here’s their cute little logo:

Mari Blogs Now
Hooray! After much deliberation, perspiration and concentration, Intellectual Orgy is online. This is Mari’s very own online journal (or blog-type-thing, whatever you want to call it). Visit. Encourage her newfound blogging addiction. Show her the love.

George Of The Bungle
Via some place I visited only briefly thanks to Wander-Lust, a little something not entirely unlike the aforelinked “Things”, but still a lot unlike. I laughed ’til I cried, people. (Hmm. That sentence without a comma would be a weird mental image, wouldn’t it?)
Read it. It’s funny, especially if you do “computer stuff” for a living, professionally, for pay, at a company.
UPDATE: I have it on the very good authority of three non-geeks of my acquaintance that “George” is damned funny. So, go forth and read, dear friends, even if you’re not geek-inclined.

Things I Have Laughed Out Loud About
Linked via grillboy (whose BlogSnob link, oddly enough, pointed to Dragon Ink when I visited), go read “Things My Girlfriend And I Have Argued About.” Not only that, but also read the linked bit (you can’t miss it, honest) about how some tabloid rag stole his page without paying for it. And then read the other account of the saga of how some tabloid rag stole… you get the idea.
British humor at its finest, folks. No, I’m serious. Mostly.
