Thanks to my pal at work, the guy who calls himself Hurricane, and his willingness to drive my sorry butt out to the Best Buy that actually had the model of TV I wanted in stock… I have a new working television. Yay!
In other news, it’s too freaking hot. The only upside to this summer is that it’s taken longer than usual to really crank up to full temperature. My room’s a sauna, and that’s with the benefit of having kept all computer equipment shut down since last night. I didn’t turn anything on until a bit after 10pm (so I could write this entry and check email, mostly) and still… too darned hot.
Unfortunately, the ready-availability threshold for buying an A/C unit may have already passed. Oh well…

Doug and I decided to buy our AC unit cause, while we’ll only use it for 3 months a year, that’s 3 months out o fthe yearthat we’ll be comfortable at home instead of running to places with AC in order to escape the heat…
You can always come hang out with us if it gets too unbearable 🙂
Well speaking as a former resident of that same room, I can definitely sympathize. I have not even bought a fan for the bedroom in my apartment yet (though I probably should) I am waiting for management to let me know if I am allowed to put a ceiling fan in.
As for buying an air-conditioner, I have always been against it. I don’t like the damn things and it is generally only “miserably” hot at night a total of 3 or 4 days a year up here. But then I am self regulating body temperature wise. I think if I buy an A/C Unit this year, it will be because of a certain blonde.
If you buy an A/C, in another 8 or 10 weeks, you may be wondering why you spent all that money on something you’re only gonna use 3 months a year, tops. At least, if you move into a place that doesn’t stick you on the third floor (counting the garage, which I’m sure holds lots of heat). But then again, maybe an A/C unit will last practically forever due to not being used year-round.
Then there is Virginia, where your sister is. Not only really hot (heat index yesterday was 110), but humid too. I basically run from air conditioned bldg to air conditioned bldg to the car (which has air conditioning). And it isn’t even August yet.
