Month: August 2002

  • Random Tidbits, circa late-August 2002

    • The two “Kagato” episodes of TMTT are posted. Huge thanks to Mari and Kylanath for suggestions and some proofreading!
    • Benjamin stopped by the office yesterday. We had a nice long chat about some of my future plans, and how he can be involved in them if things all work out for the best. He’s supposed to stop by the house tonight for some Diablo II gaming… muahahaha!
    • Wendi’s very proud of the fact that she’s finally “on top of” the housekeeping. The secret, it turns out, is to spend an hour every day doing it. It then becomes incredibly simple to maintain. A happy Wendi is a good thing, even better than a neat-looking house.
    • The head-cold lingers, much like the die-hard fans after the lights have come up at the concert venue. I’m okay, but I’m not as okay as I’d like. Such is life.
    • Once I’m done with TMTT, I have a half-formed plan to do another music video. This time I’m bucking for Journeyman status as I create a video with an actual story. At the moment I’m torn between using Genesis or Midnight Oil as the backing music.
  • Four down, nine to go.

As of some time yesterday, four of the thirteen available episodes of the Tenchi Muyo OAV have been transmogrified into Thumbnail Theater episodes. Halleluiah.

Having introduced most of the main cast we now arrive at the obligatory two episodes of crisis for our intrepid crew, in the form of Kagato and his (stolen) battlefortress Souja. I’m going to try to get both Kagato Attacks! and We need Tenchi! done in one sitting tonight, as they are a kind of two-part episode and it would be a shame to lose the momentum going into the second half of the story. Wish me luck.

  • Big McLargehuge

To celebrate the fact that Ben sent me an email today, I hereby post a little bit of MST3K-related funny he sent me a while back…

Here, for your edutainment, is the canonical list of all the various nom de plumes given to the big dumb bodybuilder hero from the MST3K classic, “Mutiny In Space”. The canonical list was compiled by Constance Crain, who is not, repeat, *not* a fangirl of any kind at all whatsoever. Really.

Some of the first names are quasiduplicates of each other. Complain to the MST3K people. They wrote ’em. 🙂

  • Workforce Friday Five

    • What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not? – *blink* Well, this is the first time they’ve tried to stuff almost all five questions into the first entry. I’m the lone computer wizard for a radio station facility in Portland, Oregon. It beats working for a living, and there are some outstanding perks.
    • If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? – A mighty sorcerer. No, really. I’m talking nigh-unlimited power. You did say “dream” occupation, remember?
    • What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices? – Oh boy. Have you got a couple of hours? Let’s just say that no, they didn’t influence my career choices… and leave it at that.
    • Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? – In this gender-unbalanced world we live in, I’ve never been the one who has to make that choice. I’m counting my blessings, thank you very much.
    • In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why? – I don’t have an opinion about this. It’s hard to judge something like that without experiencing it first-hand. A job is as easy or as hard as you make it, some would say…

  • Tenchi Muyo Thumbnail Theater

A new site feature is unveiled today: The Tenchi Muyo Thumbnail Theater. I’m taking each of the 13 OAV episodes and, well, ripping them a new one.

It helps to be a Tenchi fan to read TMTT, but you might get something out of it even if you’re not.

    What do you think, sirs?
