  • Links to my first music videos, long overdue

It occurs to me that I have yet to link to my first two anime music videos. Let’s fix that, shall we?

My first video is The Ecstasy of Jurai, a two-minute exercise in “not screwing up too badly.” It’s wordless and sort of quaint. The music is from the opening to a Metallica concert, the footage is from the Tenchi Muyo OAV episode titled “Here Comes Jurai.”

My second video is Mayuka Really Loves Me (Yeah), four minutes of Tenchi Muyo “Manatsu no Eve” footage set to music by Dada. It’s not a perfect video, but I’m quite proud of it nonetheless. My intent was to create something a bit creepy (not icky, just kind of weird) without losing the positive aspects of the story. In some places the lyrics, melody and visuals really work in this one, if I may say so.

These are both rather large MPEG files, so unless you have lots of spare time or a fast internet connection you should probably leave off downloading. Sorry.

I’m starting work on a third video this weekend. Wish me luck.

  • It’s cute, it’s geeky AND it’s almost useful.

There are worse ways to find out the current weather situation:

Clicking the image takes you to weatherpixie.com, where you can generate your own Weather Pixie. Enjoy.

I should find a sensible way to work some of these geeky clickable things into the site without creating too much clutter. Maybe a dedicated “toys” page is the answer. If you have suggestions, I’m open.

  • Funny Chat Moment #8415

Two things that taste great together. Or maybe not.

me: I just tend to use “Muahahaha!” instead.
coworker: Ahhh–I use my own version of that quite often. “moowahahahahaha”
    coworker: (I do like cows…)
me: *chuckle* Cows and Metallica. Interesting combo. “Mootallica!”
coworker: oh lord…what have I done?!

  • A clear sign that the “e-” thing has gotten way out of hand.

The Angry White Girl has a clever bit of sarcastic fun at the expense of today’s winner for the ‘Whatever It Is You’re Smoking, Stop Now’ Award, eBunintheOven.com.

No, it’s not cute. It’s not clever. It manages to be extremely lame and extremely creepy at the same time. How bad is it? I cite this example statement:

The ordering individual will fill out who they want to eImpregnate, and list their own and the recipient’s physical traits (eye color, hair color, and skin tone). This information lets us create a customized baby for the two parents based on a random algorithm of their physical traits.

I feel dirty somehow. By the way, what’s a “random algorithm?”

  • Talk about your close captioning!

In lieu of actually having anything interesting to say about the last couple of days, I instead direct you to The Caption Machine. Enjoy.

  • “Under God” Judge Not Fazed By Reactions

Via Q Daily News, it turns out that the good Judge Alfred Goodwin isn’t taking the firestorm of flag-wrapped controversy any more seriously than it deserves. Good for him.
