  • Let sit in what?

In theory: You follow the instructions on the box, heating up your frozen entree in the microwave and then, as indicated, “let sit for one to two minutes.”

In practice: You get your food out of the microwave as soon as it’s hot enough to eat so that the three people behind you in the lunchroom queue don’t string you up by your toes for obstruction of mealtime.

  • Dude, it’s been done. To death.

Here’s a little hint for those of you who play City of Heroes and are excited about the prospect of equipping a new character with bow and arrow:

Please, do not name your character some variant of “Robin Hood.” Really. If you can’t summon forth the slightest bit of creativity, if all you can do is use a mangled rendition of, oh, the most famous bowslinger in all literature, then you need to get out of the game right now. Yes, right now.

    Thank you.

This public service message brought to you by all of ten minutes on the Test server, puttering around Atlas Park with my TA/Archery Defender. Who is not, I’ll have you know, at all named anything like the aforementioned character. This is more than I can say for the half dozen clones I saw… Sheesh.

  • What was before came after.

Here’s something to ponder: If you had your memories removed, then lived a number of years as an essentially new person, then had your previous life’s memories restored, what would that be like? Which set of memories would “come first” when you thought back on your life? Would it be the most recent life, or the most distant life even though you only remembered it after you’d already lived a wholly different life?

As George Carlin once joked, “These are the thoughts that kept me out of the really good schools.” Heh.

  • Wandering in a daze…

Today was a bit hazy. Why no, I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night. Sleeping away seven hours or so out of the middle of the day sort of screwed with that a bit. This is why I’m going to bed at about 9:30 instead of my usual time of… er… later. Ahem.

Tomorrow I’ll have something more coherent, and maybe even interesting, to post. Tonight, however, I’m just letting you know I’m still alive. Until tomorrow, then, I bid you good night!

  • Blogathon 2005: The Finish Line

Blogathon 2005 is over. I made it. So did a bunch of other brave, foolish, wacky souls. Go, us! And now, bed. Good night… or day, whichever you prefer. Don’t nobody go tryin’ to wake me, y’hear?

I’ll tidy up the ring and webcam code and other stuff… later. Like, Monday later. It’ll keep.

  • Almost there? Really?

I don’t know about you… okay, I may not even know you… but if you’re anything like me (namely flat out exhausted) you’re looking forward to crossing the Blogathon finish line.

But hey, I did it. I raised somewhere in the area of $150 (there were at least two “premature donations” that didn’t get sponsorship credit), and I stayed awake long enough to do it. Another half hour and I can go to bed. Luckily, bed is about three feet away. Heh.

After the finish-line post, you won’t see me again until some time Monday. I’m sure you’ll manage. See ya!
