  • The House In The Heat

Now that we’ve had our first taste of summer (in [cuss]ing early May, mind you) I can report back that the new house should work out okay for the hot weather. We got into the vicinity of 90F according to the outside sensor and the HVAC was able to keep even the west-facing upstairs office space with the powerful heater (aka “my computer”) quite bearable.

Given that this was one of my biggest worries moving into this place, I am quite relieved. Of course all bets are off once we clear 100F, which is nigh-inevitable in this new modern era, but we’ll fight that battle when we come to it.

  • General Catch-Up: Early May 2024

As we’re still in recovery from the move (which isn’t truly over since there’s still boxes and piles of stuff in various parts of the house), here’s a few bullet points of “how I’m doing at this point of my life”:

  • Satisfactory – Phactory Phase 3

I sent the Phase 3 materials shipment up the Space Elevator a few play sessions ago. So, how has my overall approach to this new save (the “New Clear Plan”) gone so far?

    In short: A qualified success.

In long: Well, let’s dig into that…

  • That Which Was VAST

I’m on record, no pun intended, as stating that VAST’s debut release, Visual Audio Sensory Theater, is one of my favorites of all time. It was the right album at the right time with the right density & mixture of sounds, and I still love it.

My relationship with everything that’s come afterward is weirder.

  • All Out, Finally

It’s the end of an era: We handed in the keys to the apartment after several hours spent taking care of the final round of sweeping and scrubbing and what-have-you. Heck, we even replaced the drip trays on the electric stove.

Technically, the move is over. Of course, in practical terms, it just means we can really hunker down on the unboxing. On the upside this should mean that I can start doing stuff that isn’t Work, Eat, Sleep, Deal With Moving Tasks, Play Game To Unwind. We’ll see?

  • Satisfactory – Entirely Too Silly

What do we, as a family, get up to when we’re technically “done” with the game but want to wait out the production of Phase 4 products into the Space Elevator to fully round out the game save?

    Well… this:

If you want to skip ahead to the really silly parts, go to ~2:15 (h:mm) to see Spud build The Ladder of Babel, and about ten minutes later he discovered the fun to be had with driving vehicles over jump pads and at that point pandemonium ensued… featuring airborne factory carts.
