Because I feel rather strongly about this sort of thing, I’m going to be terribly gauche and not only link to a Q Daily News snippet that links to some thought-provoking material, but also post here the comment I made to that snippet because dammit, I’m pithy and interesting and stuff:

If only I had a solution to the problems of mob mentality, closed-mindedness and how to achieve understanding through deliberate perspective.

It’s all about the perspective. If you’re willing to take a step away from yourself and truly think about how things must be for a rational thinking being other than yourself, you can learn to understand and appreciate a great deal about your fellow human beings.

Feh. What am I thinking? It’s much more fun to be in a big crowd of people who like to make fun of other people. We merely graduated from high school, we never really left it behind.

Ah, memories of a youth misspent in front of the TV watching HBO and Cinemax. This is back in ’82, when such fare as The Pirate Movie and Megaforce were in heavy rotation.

And today I discover that those movies were nominated for awards. Razzie Awards.

Sad, really. I can’t believe I used to gleefully watch those crappy movies. Over and over. Repeatedly.

I wonder if Super Fuzz ever won a Razzie…

I’ve known about this for some time, but it didn’t occur to me that a link or two would be a good idea. Duh on me.

Part parody, part fanfic, part catharsis, Toastyfrog’s Thumbnail Theater is a delightful collection of snarky take-offs on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira, Princess Mononoke, Ghost In The Shell and the first two Star Wars prequels, among other things.

Inspired by Toastyfrog’s example, EK of Big-Big-Truck.com is creating a Cowboy Bebop Thumbnail Theater. The six episodes posted so far are an absolute laugh riot. And while you’re there, check out her illustrations and other artwork. The lady’s got talent.

You know, I feel inspired. I think I’ll create a Thumbnail Theater of my own… and I already know which anime to use…
