  • Rascal Does Not Dream Of Wrapping Things Up

Hey! Do you remember that “bunny-girl show” from a few years back?

Anime screencap from "Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny-Girl Senpai" of a character, holding a book, standing in a library, staring at a girl in a bunny-girl outfit who's sitting on a reading table, absolutely ignored by the people reading at that table.

Yeah, that one. It’s based on a light novel series whose final main story installment saw print late last year in Japan, the English translation of which is due early next year. Last night I picked up the penultimate volume… and this morning I discovered that a continuation animated series (following from the first animated series and subsequent movie releases) aired over the course of this past summer.

(I’m annoyed that, as a fan of this property since the start of the first anime series, I didn’t even know the continuation series existed. Bad fan, no biscuit. I could’ve been watching the show all season long! Ah, well. Now I have something to catch up on.)

The story is close to wrapping up, and reading the “…Girlfriend” installment (volume 14) makes me wonder how well the author is going to “stick the landing.”

  • Cruel Summer

I only managed three posts in August. Whoops.

Look. The Box o’ Fun transformed me into a moa bird, then we triggered the post-battle cutscene, and… well, this isn’t entirely my fault okay?

    Let’s catch up a bit.

  • Spring Anime 2025: A Mixed Bag of Nuts

I’m keeping up with a handful of shows this season, albeit with varying degrees of enthusiasm ranging from “I can’t wait for the next episode” to “well, I might as well see how this reaches a conclusion.” With a month and some-odd left to go in most of these show’s runs, it’s time for some thoughts.

(Note that I’m leaving out the long-running, continuing Apothecary Diaries, which remains one of the finest shows of this decade and looks destined for all-time-classic status. We love Maomao in this household.)

Still image from the anime, "Rock Is A Lady's Modesty," featuring one of the lead characters (Lilisa) rocking out on a guitar in a school classroom, standing next to a hefty-sized amplifier.

    Let’s get into specifics.

  • Winter Anime 2025 (Nearly Over)

A couple months ago I noted some shows that had caught my interest. Now that the season’s almost complete I have some additional thoughts to jot down about a few of them.

The news is mostly good. But only mostly.

  • Macross Delta at Not Quite The Midpoint

A friend showed the first episode of franchise installment Macross Delta during “anime night” some time ago and I thought, hey, I should buy this on Blu Ray. So I did. And I’m working my way through the series… slowly. A couple episodes at a time.

Because that’s about all I can really take, honestly.

Please welcome your standard-issue flyboy protagonist with dangerously unkempt hair, everyone.

I’m eleven episodes in. I have some thoughts.

  • Winter Anime 2025 (So Far)

Kind of went a while without posting, didn’t I? Sailor V1, I suppose.

I’m passing the time much as usual, with games (various mobile, plus Warframe and Satisfactory) and music and work and chores, but also this season I’m keeping up with more anime series than usual. (The usual is “one or two,” for the record.)

Would you like some recommendations? Here’s what I’m enjoying so far.
