Parenting isn’t always easy, and one could argue that I’m only half a parent now that I don’t live with my kids 24/7. Fine. Be that as it may, sometimes things just come together. This evening’s a case in point:
- Pizza for dinner
- Anime on the TV (Fullmetal Alchemist and an episode of the live-action Sailor Moon for Erica)
- Ice cream after dinner
- Computer gaming (Age of Mythology: The Titans, three of us teamed against three computer players)
- Hugs goodnight
It’s evenings like this that make all those early frustrating years entirely worth it…

It’s just too bad we can’t skip straight from the “they stay where you put them because they aren’t self-mobile” stage, to the “have a good life now that you’re going off to college” stage.
Eh, so far, having a teenager isn’t as bad as having a 2-year-old was. If only for the fact that she’s potty-trained & capable of interesting conversation now.
If anyone tells you that you’re only half a parent now because you’re not living with the kids 24/7, tell them to go fuck themselves. You are extremely involved in your kids’ lives and that’s what counts… Is a mom who works for a living and has her kids in daycare any less a mom than a stay at home one?
bah.
The fact that you let your daughter watch live-action Sailor Moon is the bad part *grin*
