If it's music, I get too "into it" (either from enjoyment or annoyance, depending on the song) and can't sleep. If it's talk, I'm distracted by the words. (Let me tell you how <em>thrilled</em> I was when the neighbors would hold parties on their balcony so their conversations would come right through my open bathroom window and keep me up all night. Bah.) I've tried to avoid medicating myself to sleep. I have a lifelong aversion to medicinal remedies for much of anything, though I've finally grown comfortable taking Claritin when my allergies go nuts and Ibuprofen when I'm in pain.
