  • If attempts to login on a particular account give an 0x00008801 error, or if we get reports from around the building about people being unable to login in general, run this command at the console prompt on Tenchi: 
DSREPAIR

Select "Unattended Full Repair," then exit when the process is done. (It'll take a few minutes.)

  • Another login-breaker is AOL's Triton version IM client. Kill it dead.
  • If Backup Exec agents won't install and insist that the agent is running when it's clearly not, rename the BKUPEXEC folder on the SYS volume. (Argh.)
