Every few months a new “season” starts for anime in Japan, and so the digisub scene gathers ’round their BitTorrent clients in anticipation of new works to enjoy. And, of course, the anime fansites all post their lists of what the proprietors will (probably) be watching in the months ahead.
Far be it from me to shirk my duty as an anime fansite proprietor, eh? (Stop that snickering, you. Just because I’ve been shirking like nobody’s ever shirked before, this past few months… sheesh!)
So let’s crank through this, right quick, shall we?
Gankutsuou, ’cause I can’t resist a good Count of Monte Cristo adaptation. That is, if it actually is good. (The movie version a few years ago was frightfully good… right up until they muffed it with that stupid special-effects-laden swordfight. Bastards.)
Mai-Hime. It just… looks good. Maybe I’m just a sucker for pretty fanservice. And by “maybe” I mean “most assuredly.”
I’ll try Moon Phase, but continued viewing will depend on how the first couple of eps pan out.
Rozen Maiden reminds me (visually) of Yami to Boushi… which I have to admit (somewhat abashedly) to having finished in its entirety. Which makes me probably one of a couple hundred people on the planet who did so. Anyway, I’ll give this a look-see.
BluWacky described Grenadier as “some sort of cross between Scrapped Princess and Trigun, which could be interesting but could also be absolutely abysmal.” Great, now I have to give it a shot. Le sigh. (Yes, I need to write up my thoughts on Scrapped P. I know.)
I might try Kannazuki no Miko. I might not. Hmm.
And after looking at some of the artwork, I’ll probably get sucked into trying out Nanoha.
Mind you, all of these are subject to change (by way of complete revulsion at how the first two or three episodes play out). It’s also possible that rave reviews of a show I didn’t pick will convince me to give it a whirl (*cough* KimiNozo *cough*). But this is what I’ve picked so far…
And Kyla will probably kick in with her list later on. Watch for it, won’t you?
